AusCAPPS Network (The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network) is an NHMRC-funded project designed to connect the primary care workforce and increase women’s access to contraception and abortion.
IUD and implant use among Australian women remains low, despite being safe and effective for women of all ages.
Early medical abortion is also under-utilised in primary care, despite it being an effective and less-invasive option than surgical termination.
These inequities are magnified in rural and regional areas.
AusCAPPS Network aims to:
Chat, network, ask a question, or post your thoughts: Create your own profile page and connect with other AusCAPPS members - it looks a little like Facebook. Post questions, topics for discussion, news and interesting research. You can also put a specific clinical question to our expert network, and you can post anonymously if you wish. |
|
This is a database of all AusCAPPS users you can search according to location. This is a great resource If you are looking to find a colleague or provider located near you - for example, if you are a GP in a rural area looking to find an EMA dispensing pharmacist nearby. |
|
LARC and early medical abortion resource libraries We have collated a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of clinical guidelines, templates, tools and tips and FAQs to assist you in delivering best-practice clinical services and save you the time spent searching online. |
|
If you are interested in becoming an EMA provider, having IUD insertion training, or building on your existing skills, this section of the site will put you in touch with training and education providers and opportunities. |

There are four types of post you can make.
After you know what type of post you want to make, head to the Chat page on the top navigation bar or the “Chat with peers and experts” tile on the home page.
There are limited formatting option for this. Remember to add “case study” in the topic so that this will be linked to the “Case study discussion” tile at the home page.
This is preferred so that the answers will be linked back to your question.
You can also set up a poll for voting by ticking the “poll” checkbox. You will not see members posting their votes, but the AusCAPPS team will help you post the poll results in 2-3 weeks time, depending on your preference.
1. First, head to the Chat Page or “Chat with peers and experts”.
2. Type in your keyword in the search bar at the top of the page (red box) or select the topic from the right side panel (blue box) that you are interested in.
First select either the “Providers Near You” tab from the top of the page or on the home page.
There are two ways to find a provider near you.
Select the “Resources” tab from the top navigation bar or the “Resource library” tile on the home page.
On the Resources page
Of course you can! We have a built-in direct messenging function on the “Chat Page” or “Chat with peers and experts”.
1. Once you have clicked through either of these pages, head to the top panel where you will see a chat icon.
2. Click on the chat icon and this will direct you to the messaging page.
3. Start a conversation by searching for a member’s name.
4. When you receive a message, there will be a blue dot appearing on the chat icon.
When you signed up to join AusCAPPS, we asked you the following questions: Do you insert and/or remove LARCs (contraceptive implants and/or IUDs)? Are you a prescriber/dispenser of MS2Step?
We use that information to create a profile where you can connect to others in this Network.
